Braided stuffed masala bread - first attempt at using yeast

Made and enjoyed this yummy bread from the recipe here .
Finally I did try my hands on Yeast..not very comfortable yet, but happy with the results of my first attempt :)

I had a very good friend with me to try this out (both giving each other moral support to try this new recipe). We both had  fun gossiping and preparing this..turned out to be a lovely baking date ;)

Pottery - our first attempt

Living your dreams with your children..believe in that? I am experiencing the blissful stage. Teaching, explaining, letting her create, creating to give her an example..love it all!
This was a long pending desire of mine..yes wanted to try my hands on pottery! I had thought will do this some day..then I saw a play pottery set, with all the contents to make our own earthen pots..My little one and me started about doing it (with amused hubby watching us). The wheel was quiet fast..and its no easy job for sure (the box said 5+ years..oops!) But we did not give up. My hands were full of clay as I tried to mold it, like I had seen people do it in TV. The little one was controlling the ON/Off button :). Finally our first pot was ready after a few unsuccessful attempts.
I wanted to color it after drying, but the cranky little one dropped it on floor when I was showing her the dried pot..alas! Never mind, there is always a next time for sure :)
Thanks for stopping by. Do lemme know how you liked it.

Happy mothers day + TP roll giraffe

Wish you a very happy mothers day dear friends! Hope you have a lovely time with your family this weekend.
I had a amazing day today..with lovely kisses and wishes from my little one. We went to the park with two other families..the weather was good and we had a blast out there..the childern enjoyed the new play area. The adults played with ball, the chain game, dumb charades followed by amazing home made food. While I am typing this post, we are awaiting another get together for a dinner :)

How did you celebrate mothers day, do let me know.

Sharing with you a lovely lovely gift that my little one gave me today. Its the cutest giraffe i have ever seen..made by us (ofcourse!)

We used 4 tp rolls and one kitchen roll, cut them as shown below and stuck them together.
Then we coated our girafe with 2 layers of yellow poster color. Made the spots in brown. The hair are handcut from a maroon handmade paper.

I first saw this at crafty crafted site (http://www.crafty-crafted.com/animal-crafts/toilet-paper-roll-giraffe/)

Crispy Mathri/Suhali

Mathri or Suhali is a delightful rajasthani snack to eat with tea or coffee or with some pickle. DH just love it with a hot cuppa tea!
Last year when my mom visited us at sydney, she brought some mathri in a tupperware box..till date whenever my daughter sees that box she would call it suhali box!! She remembers nani brought suhali in that box a year back!
This is a all time favorite snack, made with love by mom during our growing up years. It is so tempting too..cant stop eating while making it!

Ingredients -
  • 3 Cup – APF(maida)
  • 1 cup - Wheat flour
  • 2 tsp – Carom Seeds
  • 3 Tbsps – Oil for kneading the dough
  • 2 tsp - crushed kasoori methi
  • to taste – Salt
  • Oil for frying
Method -
  1. In a large bowl mix flour, salt, kasoori methi & carom seeds.
  2. Add oil for knading mix gently. Now hold the flour in your fist, if it forms a loose clump, then the amount of oil is fine, if it doesn’t then add a bit more oil.
  3. Using water knead the dough. The dough should be slightly hard to touch. Wrap in a wet muslin cloth & keep it aside for 1/2 hour.
  4. Form small balls with the dough. Roll these balls using a rolling pin. Use a knife or fork to make small holes/ slits in the rolled pastry.
  5. Heat oil in a big wok, fry these pastry till golden brown.
  6. Enjoy warm with tea or coffee or pickle. :) It will store well in air-tight container at room temp for several days.

Ice cream stick photo frame + yummy tidbits

papa - got a headache doll
saachi - thik ho jayega na
papa- kaise thik hoga
saachi - ho jayega na
papa - lekin kaise
saachi - aapne gelusil liye na abhi!!!

saachi tore the little origami dress that i made. asked her where it is, she said she spoiled it.
me - mamma is sad saachi, you tore the dress i made for you
saachi - kissi dena hai
oh wow!
me bend down and bestowed with kisses
her way to make mumma feel better ..surely works :))

isme baithke 'comfortable' lagta hai!!

saachi to papa: aap itne style me kyu dekh rahe the mujhe!

I try to incorporate English more while conversing with little missy..and she has taken a fancy for english and tries to make sentences with all the more words she knows. Dear papa was of the opinion that she should know her mother tongue first, she can learn all of english in school..so he used to talk to her in hindi..The little mind interpreted this as mamma knows english and papa knows no english, so she started translating whatever she told me (english) to her father in hindi. It was hilarious! Some of the instances:
After eating chocolate
Saachi to mamma : mamma my hand is sticky
to papa: mere haath bohot chikat ho gaye hai

after eating and relishing her icecream
to mama: it's a big spoon
to papa: ye bohot bali chammach hai
:)

we went out for lunch over the weekend, after finishing we were going to go to the indian store besides it. DH was doing the payment, me and saachi came out and started walking towards the shop..
saachi - mum, where is my dad??
I told this to her father, he could not believe she said that..she never calls him dad! that too in full accent!

"This is my favlet blanket"

"Mujhe aap pasand ho!" blush blush

She is full time into maska these days..she thinks/believes she can get all she want by just giving her kisses!! and i does work most of the time..its hard to not smile and relent when she does that!!!

She is full into complementing too these days..that too genuine
If i am giving her somthing to eat and she likes it she would definitely let me know " aacha bana" (it has come out good)

We love to play this fill in the blank game with litlle miss..
Saachi loves ---
Depending on her mood and who is asking her and who she wants to tease, she will either will mumma or pappa in that! She plays it very smartly, always avoiding what you want to hear!

One night, DH was trying to make saachi sleep..playing and doing masti with her.
When i finished all my chore and came to sleep, i saw her sleep was nowhere in sight because of all the masti going on..
I told both her and her father to sleep quietly :so jao chup chap".
Then in order to tease her father, whenever he tried to play with her that night..she would say in the same tune..sleep quietly.. "so jao chup chap"
i had a hearty laugh at my daughters wit! and unsuccessful attempts of DH to play with her!!

Now for the project..Saachi and me made this cute and simple photo frame with ice cream sticks. embellished it with buttons..it now adorns our fridge with a cute pic of little missy.
